UK passport.

All full passport applications need to be sent to Washington.

How to apply for a full UK passport

We no longer issue standard (10 year) British passports at this Embassy. You now need to apply for your passport at our Regional Passport Processing Centre in Washington D.C, USA.

The Regional Passport Processing Centre website will tell you everything you need to know about applying for a new or replacement British passport from Chile.

Further detailed information on the application process is available here.

Why have we done this? Please see this leaflet [PDF, 77.0 Kb] for all the changes related to the way we issue passports overseas.  If you need to travel urgently and your standard passport is not available we may be able to help you with emergency travel documentation:

The charge for this service appears under Consular fees.

Please call the Consular Section of the Embassy explain that you need to travel urgently.

PLEASE NOTE:   Holders of an ETD travelling to Argentina require a visitor’s visa.  For those applying for an Argentine visa in Chile there is an additional requirement, see below.

The visitor’s visa for Argentina needs to be obtained separately from an Argentine Consulate and you will have to pay for this.  We recommend obtaining your visa in the same country you obtained your ETD as it can take up to 5 working days to receive.  It cannot be obtained on entry to Argentina at an airport or border crossing.

› Only for those holders of an ETD applying for an Argentine visa in Chile

The Argentine Consulate in Chile requires the ETD (regardless of where it has been issued) to be accompanied by a letter from the British Embassy in Chile before the visa can be issued.  The letter confirms your status as a British passport holder and is provided free of charge. Without the letter from the British Embassy in Chile your visa application will not be accepted by the Argentine Consulate, therefore we recommend visiting the British Embassy in Chile before going to the Argentine Consulate. Holders of an ETD applying for an Argentine visa other than in Chile can do so without having to obtain a letter from the British Embassy.”

› If your passport is lost or stolen in Chile

Any loss or theft of your passport should be reported immediately to the nearest police station (“Comisaría”) in any place of the country (request to leave a “Constancia”).
If you have also lost your tourist card, you will need to obtain a copy in order to leave Chile. This may be obtained at:

Policía Internacional
Morandé 672
Santiago
