Legalisations and other notarial services

How to legalise a document

If you wish to have any Chilean document legalised by the British Embassy in Santiago, you need first to ensure that you have your document(s) legalised by the Chilean Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The British Embassy in Santiago does not legalise documents issued in the United Kingdom. We are only able to legalise Chilean public documents. Foreign documents should be legalised in the country or state of origin.

The charge for this service appears under Consular fees.

In the case that the British document is already in Chile and does not bear an apostille from the FCO, you can bring it to the Embassy and we can forward it to the Legalisation Office at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) in London.

The charge for this service appears under Consular fees.

We do not legalise either documents issued by the Commonwealth Countries or British Overseas Territories.

For further information, please check the FCO website at: www.fco.gov.uk/legalisation
